about my journey

Young boy smiling while sitting at a table with a Yu-Gi-Oh! card binder open in front of him.

During my early childhood, I fell in love with Yu Gi Oh. The excitement of each card to the thrill of the duels. A passion that grew with me over the years.

Group of people playing card and board games at a gaming tournament or event in a shopping mall.

I was nervous when I attended my first local tournament but I found a community, friends who shared my passion and pushed me to become a better player.

Two men standing in a crowded indoor event, smiling and pointing at each other. One is wearing a purple fleece jacket and has his hair in a bun; the other is dressed in black with a cap, glasses on his head, and holding a clear plastic case.

It was the regional tournaments that truly shaped my competitive edge. I’d attend my first Yu Gi Oh Championship Series in Feb. 2026. (posing here with the 2024 World Champion, Ruben Penaranda)

So what happened?

I spent countless hours every week learning how to beat the latest meta decks, only to get blindsided by a rogue strategy that made all that preparation feel pointless.

After attending regional tournaments back to back, I started noticing the same pattern:

Imbalance was taking the fun out of the game.

That’s when the idea hit me

What if a card game didn’t revolve around chasing the meta at all?

What if it kept the strategy, but made decisions matter more than matchups?

A cluttered wooden desk filled with various trading card game packs, boxes, loose cards, a small deck box, and other gaming accessories. In the background, there is a dimly lit room with a staircase, clothing hanging on the back of a chair, and a lamp illuminating part of the desk.

One Deck. No Meta. All Strategy.

  • Both players use the same deck and play within the same system, similar to chess or Uno.

  • No chasing the perfect deck. No pay-to-win. Only pure decision making.

A person making a move in a game of chess on a board with black and white squares, with chess pieces, including pawns and a king, arranged on the board.

No Searching. No Runaway Combos.

  • No “search into summon into search again” sequences that spiral out of control.

  • No floodgates. You always get to play.

  • The game stays active, interactive, and competitive from start to finish.

Controlled power. Meaningful decisions.

  • With only one of each monster allowed on the field, every choice carries weight.

  • Success comes from how you play, not how much you build.

  • Consistency without imbalance. Drawing cards adds options, not runaway advantage.

A Card Game That Just Feels Good to Play
